Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
