Democratic lawmakers Claim White House Declining Shutdown Negotiations as Chief Executive Repeats Warning of Layoffs

A senior White House representative has indicated that extensive terminations of government workers could commence if the president decides that negotiations to end the administration stoppage are "completely going nowhere|making no progress|stalled completely}."

The White House economic advisor stated to CNN that he still saw a possibility that Democratic lawmakers would concede, but added that Trump was "getting ready to act|take action|intervene" if needed.

Deadlocked Discussions

Zero substantial indications of discussions have surfaced between legislative leaders since the president convened with them last week. The shutdown commenced on October 1st, after Senate Democratic senators turned down a short-term funding bill that would maintain government departments open through to 21 November.

"They've declined to negotiate with us," Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer told the television network, saying the stalemate could be ended only by further talks between the president and the principal legislative officials.

Political Allegations

The GOP Speaker of the House accused Democratic lawmakers of being "unserious" in discussions to end the federal government closure, while the Democratic representative blamed GOP lawmakers of driving the crisis.
