One 14-year-old youth was discovered deceased just days after being wrongly accused of stealing the cremated remains of a dead baby during a break-in, an inquest has heard.

Tragic Finding

The young boy's mother and father discovered his body in his room at his Connah's Quay residence on November 19th, 2021.

Untrue Allegations Start

The investigation learned how his mother got a communication on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if Kai was her offspring. The message stated: "Tell him thanks for breaking into my flat."

In a testimony read to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the media, claiming her infant's ashes had been taken in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.

Law Enforcement Investigation

An official inquiry from police later determined the alleged break-in complainant had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the items was never taken in the first place".

Media reports about the supposed stolen remains attracted online comments, and although the teenager was not identified in the posts, his mother said people "understood it was him".

The "social media content were really upsetting", she stated.

Emotional Health Effect

She explained that her son had been diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' opinions genuinely mattered to him.

"This must have affected him severely," she commented, "especially when this was not true".

The teenager was detained at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the hearing learned, but had not reached out to the relatives by the time of his death.

Withdrawal and Worry

His mother said Kai "became isolated" after the detention and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had heard anything from the police", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could seem like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged incident, she said her son told her he had gone into the house because the woman who resided there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he needed, but denied removing anything.

Online Bullying

In a combined testimony between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being bullied digitally after the accusations.

The inquest heard that a young adult encouraged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no worries on the evening before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".

She portrayed him as a "caring, affectionate" boy, and said her "relatives is completely shattered".

He had been "obviously concealing his concerns", she said, adding that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

Educational Reaction

The inquest heard from school personnel at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys talking that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I heard".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the discussion, the educator said she called Kai's family telephone and left a message saying she had communicated to the student about the allegations.

The court learned his parents said they never got that message.

Official Conclusion

Lead investigator told the inquest he would wait for documents regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with suspects with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of future fatalities report.

Providing a narrative conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated accusations were made against the teenager, a young child.

"Likely untruths were afterwards embellished and exaggerated through the platform of social media.

"During November 11th, he was questioned by the police and following his interview he was released while investigations proceeded."

The official determined: "There is no proof that the actions or omissions of any agency led to or contributed to his passing and although it was the result of a self-inflicted action it is not possible to determine his purpose."
